Job Summary
We are seeking a visionary Director of Data Science who will serve as a strategic leader in transforming how our organization leverages data to drive business decisions in the live entertainment industry. This role demands exceptional critical thinking skills, a keen eye for identifying untapped opportunities, and the ability to translate complex mathematical and statistical insights into actionable business strategies. Reporting to the VP of Data & Analytics and working closely with the Directors of Business & Consumer Analytics, this role will be responsible designing and implementing sophisticated models, then translating technical insights into clear business value propositions. Incumbent will start and gradually grow a team of data scientists who employ a diverse ecosystem of creative machine learning models, applied experience in artificial intelligence, and advanced statistical analyses.
Essential Functions
• Focus on research and development through statistical modeling of large amounts of data; identify patterns and trends in data sets to use towards predictive analytics; develop actionable insights to guide data-driven decision making for AEG Presents. Data concepts we'll be analyzing include ticket purchases, marketing campaigns, audience engagement, ancillary revenue, and much more.
• While working on a team that focuses on Business & Consumer Analytics, this role will work with all areas of the business, including Product, Marketing, Ticketing, Promoting, Venue Ops, & more. Working with these teams, this role will be responsible in developing a data science plan that allows the functions to use ML and AI to create sustained value to revenue, customer experience, and operations.
• Develop and execute comprehensive data science strategy aligned with business objectives, including predictive analytics for ticket sales, dynamic pricing models, and audience segmentation
• Collaborate with data engineering team to integrate data collection, data quality and core model output into production systems, to automate and advance built out algorithms and models.
• Continuously scan the entertainment industry landscape to identify emerging trends and competitive advantages through advanced analytics
• Model performance reviews and ongoing maintenance
Required Qualifications
• BA/BS Degree (4-year)
• MA/MS Degree preferred
• 8-10 years Experience in data science and statistics
• 4-6 years Experience building, managing, mentoring, and inspiring high performing, collaborative teams that values testing and learning
• Proven expertise developing algorithms for solving diverse business challenges and creating value for the company
• Talent in analytical storytelling with extraordinary ability to convey complex analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences; skill at building relationships across the organization and becoming a trusted, sought-after partner
• A strong passion and evangelism for data science, coupled with deep desire to adapt machine learning and cutting-edge technologies to provide high impact to AEG Presents business model
• Strong background working with large-scale both structured and unstructured data in distributed computing environments, including databases, data cleaning, and feature engineering
• Passion and focus on execution with demonstrated ability to get things done
• Well-versed in Python, R, SQL, statistical tools
• Experience with iterative and rapid experimentation process in the context of research and analytics
• Experience in ticketing or entertainment is preferred.
Payscale: $174,211- $182,921.55
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
