What You'll Do
Epic Games is searching for a Gameplay Designer to join our Alpha Team for UEFN. This multidisciplinary group of developers evaluates new tools and features for the Fortnite Developer Community. You'll design and build example projects that explore gameplay mechanics, test the readiness of upcoming features, and help shape the developer experience across the Fortnite Ecosystem. Your work may become community sample projects, educational resources, or part of Epic's QA process.
In this role, you will
• Design and implement engaging gameplay experiences using UEFN and Unreal Engine tools.
• Rapidly prototype new ideas to evaluate features, mechanics, and workflows.
• Provide actionable feedback on tools, propose improvements, and highlight workflow enhancements to support developers.
• Collaborate with a globally diverse team of engineers, artists, and animators.
• Support a developer-first approach by keeping community experience in mind.
What we're looking for
• 3+ years of experience in gameplay design or prototyping.
• Experience creating functional gameplay prototypes (in UEFN, Unreal Engine, or similar tools).
• Strong rapid prototyping and iteration skills.
• Hands-on design approach, with the ability to directly build and test gameplay.
• Flexibility and creativity when approaching evolving software and tools.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
• Openness to feedback and ability to iterate on designs.
• Familiarity with Fortnite and the Epic Games ecosystem (preferred, but not required).
• Scripting experience (Blueprint, Verse, or equivalent) is a plus.
